MEPs vote for £62,000 annual salary
MEPs last night voted to pay themselves £62,000-a-year.
The figure is an attempt to agree a single salary for all European parliament members, replacing the current system where pay is linked to the rates of national MPs.
Labour MEPs said the salary levels were being set too high and had been "plucked out of thin air".
