A "civil war" is raging in the Cabinet over next month's budget, the Sun reports today.

Prime minister Tony Blair has reportedly called for an end to the fighting, which is said to have intensified after chancellor Gordon Brown identified the NHS and education as key priorities.

The Ministry of Defence could face a series of cuts from next year's budget, while the Home Office is also expected to be among the casualties despite higher crime figures.
