'Anti-pope' claim angers eurosceptics
Downing Street's European adviser has angered eurosceptics by comparing them to anti-Catholic bigots.
Sir Stephen Wall told a think tank that: "There are many aspects of the reformation and anti-popery that find an echo in modern euroscepticism".
Shadow foreign secretary Michael Ancram who, along with Conservative leader Iain Duncan Smith, is a Catholic, described the mandarin's comments as "deeply flawed and insulting".
