Morris warns teaching unions on strike action
Education secretary Estelle Morris yesterday warned teachers not to return to the "bad old days" of industrial action.
Her statement came as London members of the National Unions of Teachers voted to strike over cost of living allowances.
The NUT's general secretary, Doug McAvoy said that the living allowance was £3000 less for teachers than for police officers, making it difficult to attract new recruits.
