Consultants boost prices to treat NHS patients
Private hospital consultants are increasing their charges to cash in on the government's drive to treat NHS patients in the private sector.
Hospital bosses say the move will mean that the government will have to foot a bill way above estimates for the 150,000 patients who are set to receive treatment in the private sector.
"Consultants have suddenly realised they are in short supply and that they have market power," said the NHS Confederation.
