Tube strike dates announced

Strikes on London Underground have been announced for next month.

Two 48-hour strikes are planned by the RMT and Aslef unions, but they will be stretched over three days. Members will walk out at noon on March 5 to return at noon on March 7, and at noon on March 26 to return at noon on March 28.

The action, voted for by 847 members with 191 against, is over the narrowing of a £1600 pay gap between drivers of passenger and engineering trains.

In a further move, strikers on Arriva Trains Northern are to suspend action, instead calling "no fare days", where no money will be taken from passengers.
