The threat of the first national postal strike in six years moved a step closer yesterday when Royal Mail workers voted overwhelmingly for industrial action.

The move could signal a return to the days of union militancy, the Telegraph believes, pointing to another strike ballot - by the NUT - and next week's walk-outs by members of the RMT.
