Wicks to probe ministerial behaviour
Calls are intensifying for the creation of an independent sleaze watchdog to investigate the conduct of ministers.
The Wicks commission on standards in public life has signalled that it will investigate the arrangements for monitoring the action of ministers.
The calls were led by Tony Wright, the chairman of the Public Administration Committee, who said the appointment of a public standards commissioner was vital to restore confidence in the government.
