Liddell criticised over workload

Scottish secretary Helen Liddell finds time for French lessons during her working day - a revelation which has drawn criticism over her place in the cabinet following devolution.

Liddell's ministerial diary for last week shows that as well as leaving time for French lessons, Liddell had no official engagements on Monday or Friday in London or Scotland, apart from a Burns Supper on Monday night.

John Swinney, the leader of the SNP, said: "Many people have been asking what exactly Helen Liddell does with her day. Now we know the answer is very little."
