Troop 'overstretch' warning
Former defence chiefs have warned that the UK's armed forces face "overstretch" as the government meets heavy international commitments overseas.
In a Lords debate, the former defence secretary and Conservative peer Lord King cautioned: "We will not be able to point to the priceless asset that is at present our armed forces... unless we ensure that our forces are properly trained, [and] get proper rest and recreation and time with their families."
