Wakeham to attack Lords reform plans

The Times reports that Lord Wakeham, who chaired the royal commission on Lords reform, will tell the Lords today that he cannot back the government's plans, saying he is "fearful as to the consequences".

Widespread opposition among MPs and peers may lead the government to make concessions on its planned reform of the House of Lords. Ministers may consider an increase in the number of elected peers from the proposed 120 to around 200.
