HSE faces Paddington legal action

The Health and Safety Executive has said it will fight a legal action, begun by insurers acting for Thames Trains, to make the safety watchdog partly liable for compensating victims of the 1999 Paddington rail crash.

The action alleges that the HSE is partly responsible for the the rail crash as it failed to express concern about the train operating company's driver training programme before the crash occurred.
