Immigration rules changed for clerics

Immigration rules for Muslim clerics have been changed to protect UK mosques from fundamentalist overseas recruiters.

David Blunkett yesterday announced changes making it easier for British trained clerics to remain in the country, the move follows revelations that the alleged "shoe bomber" Richard Reid converted to Islam while in Feltham young offenders institute. The prison's imam has been suspended following allegations that he distributed anti-US literature and delivered inflammatory sermons to inmates.
