Martin attacks Filkin
The Speaker of the House of Commons, Michael Martin, has criticised the parliamentary standards commissioner, Elizabeth Filkin, for complaining about her treatment.
He told the Commons: "I am writing to the commissioner for standards to ask her for details of the pressure which she says was applied to her."
Iain Duncan Smith called for a public inquiry into the affair during prime ministers questions, a request rejected by Tony Blair.
