Consignia criticised over failure to consult on job cuts
DTI minister Douglas Alexander has rebuked post operator Consignia for its failure to consult unions over its announcement to slash 30,000 jobs.
Speaking in the Commons yesterday, Tony Blair said that he regretted any job loses but said the issue was a matter for the company and trade unions.
Unions have warned they may go on strike as soon as the New Year unless the redundancy threat is withdrawn.
