European e-commerce directives could cost British companies over £11 billion to implement, it has been claimed.

The Interactive Media in Retail Group is warning that the laws will take months to implement and will be unworkable for sales through interactive TV and mobile phones.

"The extreme costs are likely to force some organisations who are trading to stop and deter others from starting," said the organisation.
