Drugs bill soaks up government health spending

Extra cash for the NHS is being soaked up by new drugs approved by the service's watchdog, according to a report in the British Medical Journal. The National Institute for Clinical Excellence approves so many more drugs than it refuses that the drugs bill for the NHS has increased by £200 million, the report says.
