A prayer service in Pakistan was the scene of 16 deaths yesterday after armed men opened fire on the Christian congregation.

Five men, who arrived and escaped by motorbike, began their attack by shooting the muslim police officer at the door of the church. They then ran inside, bolted the door to prevent escape, and began shooting indiscriminately.

No one has claimed responsibility but police sources indicated that Islamic militants were to blame.
