Schroder advocates political union
Gerhard Schroder, the German chancellor, told the Labour Party conference yesterday that the terrorist attacks on America has reinforced the need to expand the European Union and incorporate as many countries as possible.
Stating he had "come here to conference out of solidarity with Great Britain and solidarity with great old Labour", Schroder added that he was convinced that the EU "will play a vital role in the people's answer to terrorism" before receiving a standing ovation.
