Hughes pleads for liberty

Lib Dem home affairs spokesman, Simon Hughes, has told his party conference that anti-terror curbs on freedom "must be kept to a minimum". He argued that the international crisis should prompt closer global co-operation along a range of policies from climate change to asylum seekers.

"Now is the time to be intolerant of intolerance, counter prejudice, stand up for freedom," Hughes told the Bournemouth conference.
