Wales could press ahead on extra business rate

The Welsh assembly's plans to introduce a supplementary business rate have provoked worries among business groups.

A letter written by Welsh finance and local government minister Edwina Hart says she plans to "deliver a scheme that is mutually beneficial to business and local government".

Moves towards additional business rates have been dropped in England and Scotland. The Wales CBI said it was "very concerned" saying the move could discourage inward investment and hit competitiveness.
