Government backs down on employment tribunals

Amid growing signs of a serious rebellion, the prime minister has ordered the scrapping of controversial plans to levy a charge to begin employment tribunal action. The climbdown is being led by trade secretary Patricia Hewitt with the express consent of the prime minister.
