The Liberal Democrats are seeking to raise their income as part of their attempt to overtake the Conservatives. After spending around £12 million less than the Labour or the Conservatives during the last election campaign, the party wants to raise £20 million by the next election.

The party's federal treasurer, Reg Clark told the party's conference: "Liberal Democrats are good at eccentrics but not so good at eccentric millionaires. If you see one, be nice to him."
