Electoral Commission issues apathy warning
An Electoral Commission report out today calls for changes to make voting easier and "more user-friendly". It is also expected to warn that ignoring voter disillusion could lead to more direct action as the public looks for other ways to make its voice heard.
Suggested changes include a "positive abstention" box to woo back some of the millions of disenchanted voters who failed to turn out at the last election, as well as phone and internet voting.
