Cuts leave Navy weak
A report, believed to have been written by the Navy's first sea lord, Admiral Sir Nigel Essenhigh and leaked to the Telegraph, reveals that Treasury cuts have left the Navy unable to properly meet NATO commitments and vulnerable to attack.
Armoury shortfalls, a crisis in the fleet's helicopters operation and financial pressure on the Defence Logistics Organisation "translates into operational risks in front line" roles, reveals the document.
