McGuinness breaks 30 years of silence
Northern Ireland's education minister, Martin McGuinness has ended 30 years of speculation and admitted publicly that he was an active member of the IRA.
He told reporters that he was the second-in-command of a active IRA unit at the time of the Bloody Sunday shootings. He would not confirm when he joined the IRA, when, or if he left the organisation.
