ISPs fight tobacco adverts bill

The UK's major internet service providers are lobbying the government to amend the Tobacco Advertising and Promotion Bill, currently before parliament, because they believe it classes them as publishers of information, rather than service providers.

The Internet Service Providers Association says that the bill sets a precedent and could provide a basis for making ISPs responsible for the content accessed by their subscribers.
