MPs to review 'whole machinery' of crown
MPs on the Commons public administration select committee are set to launch a sweeping investigation into the powers of the monarchy.
Committee chairman, Tony Wright, angry at Buckingham palace's "muted response" to the Sophiegate affair, said that the committee's brief extended to the "whole machinery of the crown: the powers of the queen's prerogative, the queen's speech and the role of the civil service".
