Campaign to exclude IT from security bill

Industry campaigners will this week launch a final effort to get the government to exclude the IT industry from the provisions of the Private Security Industry bill.

The CBI will warn that the bill would inadvertently catch IT security consultants, making it illegal for them to operate without a licence. The legislation is aimed at bouncers and other security guards but the CBI says it makes no distinction between physical and information security.
