During a visit to the Forest of Dean today, William Hague is expected to call for the military to be given full control of efforts to tackle foot and mouth disease.

With MAFF officials increasingly overstretched and with the backlog of animals waiting for slaughter rising, Hague will call for "decisive action to cut through the chaos".
