The Confederation of British Industry has warned that a future Conservative government pursuing eurosceptic policies would undermine Britain's interests in Europe and could damage UK industry.

CBI deputy director general said: "It is not in our commercial interests to have a eurosceptic government."

The Conservatives said their policies had overwhelming public support as well as support from "large chunks of British business" who want to keep the pound.
