Commons written questions are set to be tabled over a trip by Peter Mandelson to Syria to meet with billionaire arms-broker Wafic Said and the country's new president, Bashar al-Assad.

Conservatives and Lib Dems are also pushing for the Commons Home Affairs Select Committee to investigate why the passport applications at the centre of the Hinduja affair were fast-tracked.
