Tougher penalties for arms dealers

The DTI is set to announce tougher penalties for arms traffickers with strengthened arms export controls and increased penalties for breaches of the licensing regime.

The punishment for dealing or brokering arms to an embargoed destination will be up to 10 years in prison.

The DTI's draft export controls bill is to be published on Friday.
