The DTI published a long-awaited arms export bill yesterday.

Trade and industry secretary Stephen Byers said the bill goes further than the Scott recommendations and opened an eight-week consultation to close loopholes in the proposed legislation.

Arms trade campaigners warn that the bill does not go far enough.
