Fewer subjects for slower pupils

The Conservatives would prevent children who are behind on basic literacy and numeracy form moving on to subjects such as science and history, William Hague told head teachers yesterday. Hague promised to simplify the national curriculum and allow teachers to decide what was best for their pupils.
