Workplace litigation has increased to a record 164, 000 claims in the past financial year. Figures from the conciliation service ACAS shows a 32 per cent increase in disgruntled workers launching tribunal cases against their bosses in just 12 months, compared to 124,256 in the previous year. The Mail reports how this record one-third rise in cases heard by employment tribunals has highlighted the expanding "compensation culture". The rise has prompted the Confederation of British Industry to call for radical reform of employment tribunals. The CBI deputy director, John Cridland, said he wanted to see tribunals used only when "no reasonable alternative" was available to settle a dispute.
