WSJ Europe editor takes Lords seat
Journalist Patience Wheatcroft has taken her seat in the upper chamber this afternoon as a Conservative peer.
Baroness Wheatcroft, editor in chief of the Wall Street Journal Europe, is a former Times business editor and Sunday Telegraph editor.
She is one of three coalition peers who were introduce to the House today, alongside Tory Alistair Cooke and former Liberal Democrat MP Susan Kramer.
Lady Wheatcroft announced she would stand down as the editor of the Wall Street Journal Europe after she was nominated for a peerage in November.
She had joined the publication in June 2009, where she ran the European offices of both the journal and its sister website Dow Jones.
Baroness Kramer, was MP for Richmond Park from 2005 but lost her seat at last year's general election to Tory Zac Goldsmith.
In 2000 she stood unsuccessfully as the Liberal Democrat candidate in the London Mayoral election.
Alistair Cooke, who will sit as Lord Lexden, worked as editor in chief at the Conservative Research department since 2004.
