Wallace or Gromit

Eddie Izzard has reassured Ed Miliband that he doesn't look like Wallace, rather he is Gromit the dog.
Sitting next to Miliband on the conference stage this afternoon, Labour supporting Izzard explained: "You're Gromit not Wallace".
"Gromit is the very cool dog that makes a spacecraft that goes to the moon that stops the evil penguin," he said.
I'm not to sure who the evil penguin is in this story, but I assume their first name is David.
