Rumours abound as reshuffle begins
By Tony Grew - 7th October 2011
An unusual Friday in Westminster as there is a major story for once - the worst-kept secret in politics is that Ed Miliband will reshuffle his shadow cabinet today.
We already know via PoliticsHome that shadow health secretary John Healey is leaving the frontbench to spend more time with his family.
Shadow BIS secretary John Denham is to take a step back and serve as Miliband's PPS - he will also leave the Commons at the next election.
Shadow NI secretary Shaun Woodward is also tipped to leave the shadow cabinet.
Ann McKechin, currently shadowing the Scottish secretary, is expected to depart the shadow cabinet, while Rachel Reeves, Chuka Ummuna and Gloria De Piero are all tipped for the top team, despite only being elected in 2010.
Current shadow chief secretary Angela Eagle is expected to be moved to shadow leader of the House, while Peter Hain is expected to hold on to his job as shadow Welsh secretary alongside his role as a party strategist.
Ed Balls, Yvette Cooper and Douglas Alexander are expected to remain as shadow chancellor, home secretary and foreign secretary respectively, while Andy Burnham is widely tipped to move from education to health.
