    Angela Smith vs EyeSpyMP

    By Tony Grew
    - 22nd November 2010

Who contributes to the Twitter feed EyeSpyMP?

Labour MP Angela Smith seems to think lobby journalists write it.

In exchanges with press gallery chairman George Parker at this afternoon's administration committee, Smith, MP for Penistone, complained there are so few places members are "safe".

She said the Twitter feed, which reports in ultra-mundane fashion the movements of MPs, is "tracking us" and suggested opening up some MP-only facilities to lobby journalists would lead to more "unpleasant comments".

The reality is that journalists do not spend their time Tweeting things like:

"Jo Swinson having lunch with a wierd bearded man - probably a Lib Dem offical" or "John Denham sniggering at the Guardian on the train to London".

So who else could it be?

It might be assumed that it is researchers - but it could just as likely by other MPs.

you think you are above everyone else and don't have to apologise when you get it wrong. don't mind what you do - do mind when you are wrong and don't have the b***** to admit it on twitter.
