Prescott cashes in with boxing advert

7th January 2011

John Prescott stars in a new television advert gently poking fun at his reputation as a bruiser.

The former deputy prime minister is seen lording it up hammering a punchbag to the Rocky theme music Eye Of The Tiger, in a garage.

Comedian Omid Djalili interrupts the Labour peer, 72, during an exercise session and quizzes him about his car insurance.

Djalili tell the politician nicknamed "Two Jags" he should head on over to the money saving website now that he is "no longer running the country".

Dressed in a tracksuit with boxing gloves, Prescott takes out his frustration at the cost of insuring two cars, before being knocked over by his punchbag.

The advert, for a price comparison site makes reference to the 2001 incident in which Prescott lashed out at an egg-throwing protester while on the campaign trail in Rhyl, Clwyd.

MoneySupermarket.com described the signing of the Labour heavyweight as a "real coup".
