New role for Greg Clark

By Tony Grew
- 20th July 2011

The minister for decentralisation has an additional new role, news you might have missed during yesterday's shenanigans.

It was announced in a written ministerial statement that Greg Clark will become "minister for cities with responsibility for English cities".

He will report jointly to Vince Cable and Eric Pickles.

While this is not exactly a promotion, it is another sign of how highly the PM thinks of Clark, and a strong indication that he will be in the cabinet sooner than some of his fellow ministers of state.
