Murdoch attacks Parliament's 'lies'
Rupert Murdoch has hit out at "lies" told about News Corporation in Parliament.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Murdoch said his company had handled the phone hacking crisis "extremely well in every way possible," making just "minor mistakes."
And he said in attending Tuesday's culture committee he wanted to address "some of the things that have been said in Parliament, some of which are total lies".
Murdoch added: "We think it's important to absolutely establish our integrity in the eyes of the public...I felt that it's best just to be as transparent as possible."
His comments come as the scandal risks spreading to the United States where the FBI is reportedly investigating whether News Corporation tried to hack the phones of victims of the 9/11 attacks.
Peers will return to the issue of phone hacking when they debate allegations about the conduct of news media and the police and the position of News Corporation within UK media provision this afternoon.
