Mulholland calls for Carlsberg boycott

By Tony Grew
- 27th May 2011

Probably the best EDM in the world?

Well, given that it only has one signature, that is unlikely to be the case.

Nevertheless, Leeds MP Greg Mulholland is clearly angry that the brewing behemoth has decided to close the Tetley's brewery in the city, bringing to an end 189 years of history and Tetley's identity as a Leeds beer.

Mulholland is calling on people to boycott Carlsberg UK in response to their "betrayal of Leeds".

He also calls on Leeds pubs, bars and clubs "to show their support for Leeds by delisting Carlsberg".

Admittedly Mulholland's EDM is pretty new - it was tabled on Tuesday - but the closure is not due to take place until June 17.

Plenty of time to Leeds' other MPs - Hilary Benn, George Mudie, Fabian Hamilton and Rachel Reeves - to add their signatures.
