MP tells voter to get a life

15th December 2010

"I suggest you get a life and stop whinging."

That is how maverick Lib Dem MP Bob Russell ended a letter to a constituent recently.

The correspondence has appeared on the Guido Fawkes blog.

It seems Russell, who is known for his trenchant views and his willingness to express them, was irked by an email complaining about the Royal Wedding.

The Colchester MP lets them have it with both barrels.

You can see the full letter here, but some of the highlights include:

"Haven't you got something better to do in your sad life?

"Bit of a spoilsport are you?

"What a miserable person you must be!"

No doubt some of "Bingo" Bob Russell's colleagues wish they could be as dismissive of awkward constituents.

Then again, Russell does have a majority of 6,982 in Colchester.
