Met chief to deliver terrorism lecture

By Tony Grew
- 7th April 2011

Sir Paul Stephenson will make his first public address following his recent illness at a Policy Exchange event next month.

The Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police will deliver the second John Creaney Memorial Lecture on Terrorism, Protest and Reform: Reflections upon returning to New Scotland Yard.

Sir Paul had been off work since before Christmas after undergoing surgery to remove tumour but returned to his duties this month.

The event will be held at 6pm on May 4 at Policy Exchange, 10 Storey's Gate, Westminster SW1P 3AY.

RSVP - events@policyexchange.org.uk

The lecture memorialises John Creaney QC (1933-2008), one of the most important figures in the legal system of Northern Ireland during the past four decades, serving as a Senior Prosecuting Council from 1978 until his death. His unique career spanned the gamut of provincial and international terrorism – from the Malvern street murder of 1966 to Ulster’s first Al Qaeda trial in 2005.
