Labour MP targets Parliament's rifle range

By Ned Simons
- 28th April 2011

The existence of a rifle range within the Palace of Westminster contributes to the "continued sniping" about how un-family friendly Parliament is, Labour MP Diana Johnson has said.

"Aren't we shooting ourselves the foot by continuing to pay for a rifle range in the Lords?" she asked.

Lib Dem John Thurso, who speaks in the chamber for the Commons authorities, said the rifle range had no "direct cost" to the Commons as it was located on the Lords part of the estate.

He said Johnson should take a "more targeted approach".
