Gordon Brown to address Fabians

6th January 2011

Former prime minister Gordon Brown will address the Fabian Society later this month.

Brown is to deliver the 2011 John Harvard Memorial lecture and will assess how, through global economic cooperation, a form of globalisation can be secured which delivers jobs and justice.

The lecture 'A Better Globalisation: How America and Britain can deliver jobs and justice' will explore how a strong transatlantic partnership can respond to global economic challenges and inequalities.

In September, the former prime minister addressed students at Harvard after being named a visiting fellow at its Institute of Politics.

Since losing office at the general election last May, the former Labour leader has written a book about the global economic crisis.

Brown, who briefly worked as a college lecturer in the 1970s, before becoming an MP, has said in the past that he would like to work in education when he leaves politics.

The event is set to take place on Thursday 20 January at the Old Vic theatre, Southwark.
