Aaron Porter will not seek second term
By Tony Grew - 21st February 2011

The president of the National Union of Students has announced he will not stand for re-election in April.
Aaron Porter has led the union through one of its most high-profile periods, including a series of demos outside Parliament that turned violent.
Porter, 26, was elected last year and was expected to seek a second term.
He has been the focus of disquiet among a small group of students at the NUS policy on tuition fees.
Earlier this month he was heckled and attacked by a small group of students at a demo in Manchester, because they felt he is "not radical enough".
The BBC reports Porter as saying the union needs a new leader as its campaign over fees is "moving into a different landscape".
Porter's campaign for re-election was apparently up and running, with alleged campaign materials leaked to blogger Harry Cole.
